Scamp - Cairn Terrier Puppy

Shelter: BC SPCA - Alberni-Clayoquot Branch Animal ID: 518814 Birthdate: July 19, 2020 - Puppy Spayed/Neutered: No Male This adorable character is Scamp, he is a small breed puppy who has been through a lot in his young life. He was brought into our care with an injured hind end, likely hit by a vehicle. Scamp has been in and out of the vet and still requires a surgery on his leg. Since he is a puppy, the vet wants to hold off on the surgery for a bit longer to give him more time to grow. That being said, we are looking for a foster to adopt situation that is able to travel to Port Alberni easily. We are only adopting to the island, and the closer to Port the better. Scamp loves his people and bonds easily to his caregiver, he has separation anxiety and hates being left alone, he gets very vocal. He is on a gastrointestinal diet (to help him defecate better with his injury), as well as pain control. He is currently in foster with a staff member with kids, cats and a medium sized dog. He is on strict rest and needs to housed in a smaller portion of the home to restrict his activity. He can be toy possessive with animals and needs to be leashed for potty breaks. He is going to have to stay calm, so no running, jumping or stairs, and he will need some rehabilitation after surgery also. Someone with the time to help him through recovery and his needs. He may be prone to arthritis early on as well as incontinence/ urinary dribbling.
